  • About the Book

This photobook is more than just a showcase of images; it is a deeply personal journey through love, loss, and resilience. Each photograph tells a story, reflecting the beauty and complexity of life as seen through Whee Jim’s eyes. After experiencing profound personal loss, Whee Jim turned to his camera—his humble mobile phone—to capture moments that resonate with joy, sadness, and everything in between.

Edited by his close friend and former journalist Yap Su-Yin, “Moving: Yeo Whee Jim’s photographs and reflections” is depicted in three Movements.

First, “As Time Flows, Always in Wonder” captures the thrill of adventure and exploration. Second, “Stillness in Motion
where the photographer illustrates the beauty found in stillness through intimate moments of family life and serene animal portraits. Third, “Moving In and Out of Light”concludes the collection by exploring themes of faith and gratitude.

These photographs evoke feelings of spirituality and reflection, encouraging us to find meaning in our experiences and recognize the light that guides us through life's challenges.

  • What Others Say

People always say that a picture paints a thousand words. For Whee Jim, his pictures paint a million feelings. To me, the way to appreciate Whee Jim’s works, is not to see how he took those photographs with his skills, but how he took them with his heart.

Sorting through the mass/mess of a lifetime’s photographs is slow work: each image sends you down a rabbit hole of memories, most happy, some poignant, a few painful. I am grateful to Whee Jim for honestly curating and sharing his journey with us: it could not have been easy for him. At one level, the images show us his love for nature and adventure, and for the things of family, home and country. Gradually, we are drawn in to see the collection through his eyes, refracted through the joys and challenges of his life. This book is both a testament and celebration of an indomitable spirit that remains fully anchored in faith, love and hope.
