Sukhdev Singh shares candidly of his experiences as a cabby and security guard after serving more than three decades in the Singapore Police Force.

Continuing from the previous two books in this trilogy, he recounts his journey to faraway North Sulawesi, where he did charity work among coastal fisher folks. With the help of the grateful islanders, he built a sea-worthy craft in which he embarked on a perilous voyage through  the pirate-infested waters of Indonesia, before arriving safely at Punggol Marina, Singapore. As if these adventures were not enough, he plunged headlong into the political arena as a member of the Opposition in Singapore’s General Election.

  • About the Author

This trilogy is the life story of a retired Singapore policeman, Sukhdev Singh Gill, a Hokkien-speaking Sikh—perhaps quite a wonder today, but not so in the days of pre-independent Singapore.

Sukhdev grew up in the 1950s under British colonial rule. Living in kampongs with neighbours of various races, he became proficient in the Hokkien dialect. This collection of his childhood memories ranges from the hilarious to heart-stopping escapades.

In the next two parts of this trilogy, Sukhdev shares his experiences over 30 years with the Singapore Police Force and life after retirement.
